A meta-analysis confirms that red light therapy is highly effective in treating hearing loss and tinnitus.
A systematic evaluation of 17 studies shows that photobiomodulation with targeted red light (630-660 nm) improves hearing in age-related and noise-induced hearing loss as well as in tinnitus.
The effect was observed consistently and no side effects occurred.
Proven relief from tinnitus
After 20 days of daily 20-minute therapy with 650 nm red light, the majority of participants reported a noticeable improvement in their tinnitus.
In some cases, the ringing in the ears disappeared completely.
Protection & repair following noise-induced hearing loss
Targeted red light therapy led to a noticeable improvement in hearing performance following noise-induced hearing loss.
Here too, the number of functioning hair cells in the inner ear increased significantly.
Proven relief from tinnitus
After 20 days of daily 20-minute therapy with 650 nm red light, the majority of participants reported a noticeable improvement in their tinnitus.
In some cases, the ringing in the ears disappeared completely.
Lasting tinnitus improvement through light therapy
Red light therapy led to a significant reduction in tinnitus severity (THI) in several groups.
The improvement persisted even after the end of therapy.
